Taste top quality wines
In order to produce top-quality wine, it is first necessary to produce quality grapes in the vineyard, and then modern technology with the support of experts in the field of oenology closes the circle of high-quality wines. In addition to grapes from its own vineyards, the company Vina Domano has established a long-term, high-quality cooperation with subcontractors from the Domanović area, from whom it procures grapes.
The winery has modern technology and equipment from world-leading producers such as Vaslin Bucher, TMC Padovan, Compart and Eurostar. The capacity of the winery is 1.5 million liters and the annual production is 500 thousand liters of top-quality wines. Fermentation of white and rosé wines takes place in stainless steel tanks, while red wines are fermented in wooden vinifiers.
All our containers are made of oak and stainless steel. We are also proud owners of the largest oak barrel in Bosnia and Herzegovina with a capacity of 16,230 liters, which is located in our cellar.
In 2022, the winery enters private ownership
The first company was founded in 1996 when a small winery in Domanovići was bought by Hepok, the former agricultural giant of Yugoslavia. The winery was destroyed due to the war events of the 90s, and most of its equipment was destroyed or stolen. Under new ownership, the winery was renovated and new modern equipment was acquired to begin wine production.
The winery won its first recognition and award for its work at Zagreb wine fair Vinovita in 1999, when it received a silver medal for the wine Žilavka. That award came as a confirmation that the winery is on the right path to success.
In the following years, the production facility and cellar were expanded and renovated, and a new tasting room with a restaurant for tourist purposes was built. In 2014, the winery achieved significant success at the most prestigious competition Decanter World Wine Awards, when it won silver for the wine Žilavka CZ. In 2017 at the DWWA, our company achieved the greatest success in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, when it received two platinum medals for Žilavka CZ and Blatina CZ, making these two wines the best wines in the region of Eastern and Central Europe.

Herzegovina has a long tradition of growing vines that goes back to Illyrian times. It is worth mentioning that the Bosnian king Tvrtko, then still a ban, visited Herzegovina and tasted the indigenous varieties Žilavka and Blatina, for which he had words of praise. The arrival of Austria-Hungary in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina led to the modernization of winemaking and viticulture, and ten years later, Herzegovinian wines became famous beyond borders thanks to the recognitions awarded to them at evaluations in Budapest, Brussels, London, Marseille, Paris and Vienna.
Vineyards of Vinarija Domanica d.o.o. are located in the area of the Dubrava plateau, where they cover a total area of 40 hectares and are built on several different plots: Luka, Milinovača, Mitrovača, Humčine and Bogševac, which are located within a radius of 10 kilometers. The Dubrava plateau has a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, a satisfactory amount of rainfall, where the fund of sunny hours in one year is 2300. The vineyards are located at 430 meters above sea level, and there is a constant flow of air, which prevents the frequent development of diseases in the vineyard. The composition of the soil consists of a rich soil mixture of shale and humus.

Taking into account the pedological properties of the land on which our vineyards are planted, of the white varieties
we have the indigenous Žilavka, Bena, Krkošija and international Chardonnay, and from the red varieties we have the indigenous Blatina and Trnjak and international Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Alicante Bouchet and Vranac.
The tasting room offers the possibility of organizing various events.
The location of the company Wines Domano in Domanovići is unique, considering that in its surroundings there are several cultural, historical and touristic locations and monuments of great importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some 10 kilometers west and southwest of our location, and some 20 minutes by car, there is the medieval fortress Počitelj, villa rustica Mogorjelo from the time of Roman antiquity, and the nature park Hutovo blato.
Some 20 kilometers to the east of our location, and some 30 minutes by car, there is the necropolis of Radimlja from the Middle Ages, then the ancient Illyrian city of Daorson, and the medieval fortress of the old town Vidoški. It should also be noted the proximity of Mostar (Old Bridge) and Blagaj (Stjepangrad, spring of Buna and Tekija) some 30 kilometers north, Međugorje (Shrine of Our Lady) some 25 kilometers west and Dubrovnik some 112 kilometers south of our location.
In part of our winery, there is a wine tasting room, which with an indoor closed area and an outdoor summer terrace with a view of the vineyards has a capacity of 150 seats. The tasting room was built in the old Herzegovinian style, with shades of modern and functional, which is the right place for gathering true wine lovers as well as enthusiasts eager to learn about a good drop, its creation, storage and tasting...
The multifunctionality of the space provides the possibility of organizing birthday celebrations, but also meetings, conferences, seminars and other business gatherings. Our oenologists and technologists will be happy to take you through the cellars present and clarify all to you hitherto unknowns related to the process of production and preservation of wine.
